Melanie Schmidt

Instructor

Melanie spent 8 years in dance instruction at Arndorfer School of dance in Montevideo, MN. Areas of focus included ballet, tap and jazz. Throughout high school, she competed in High Kick / Precision with the Montevideo dance team, and won two State Championships. She served as both Captain and Choreographer for the team. Melanie also led annual dance clinics for local elementary and middle school girls. After high school, she continued her dance education by taking classes in Adult Ballet, Tap, and Ballroom. She has performed in the role of "Lorraine Fleming" in the Phoenix Theatre tap dance production of 42nd Street.

Melanie is a dance team official for the Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL) and is a member of the Judges Association of Minnesota Dance Teams (JAM). She has completed 15 years as an official as both a Judge and Superior Judge. She has also served on the JAM Board of Directors. She has been selected multiple times to serve as an official at the MSHSL State Dance Team Tournament.

Melanie has spent 20+ years working in early childhood education and early childhood special education. She loves working with preschool and elementary aged children.

Melanie lives in Lonsdale with her husband, Randy and her 3 children, Leighton, Eliza and Aviana. Both of her daughters are To The Pointe dancers.
